What is ourAdvanced Health Assessment?

We refer to our assessment as an “Advanced Health Assessment” not only because it offers a fully comprehensive and in-depth study of your physical health, but also because we are looking further than just the consequences of your behaviours.

According to the National Institute of Health in the United States, behavioural health is classified as “a state of mental/emotional being and/or choices and actions that affect wellness.” Therefore not only are we focused on your physical and mental health, but we are also going to be exploring the health of your choices and habits. We will be carrying out an evaluation of how behavioural disorders such as alcohol and drug dependency, eating disorders and gambling addiction can affect your mental and physical well-being.

Our Advanced Health Assessment is broader in scope than a standard psychiatric or mental health assessment. According to the World Health Organisation, mental health is “a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.”

Mental health

Mental health disorders can be caused by genetic inheritance and chemical imbalances in the brain. Such mental health disorders include:

  • Autism
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • Depression
  • Obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Tourette's
  • Anxiety disorder

All of which can be treated with a combination of medication and psychological therapy.

However, one of the areas we believe we offer the edge is in the “advanced” component of our health assessment. It is very common to find behavioural health issues running alongside most mental health disorders. Therefore we understand that by conducting a fully Advanced Health Assessment which will evaluate the concurrent behaviours of the suffering individual, we will be able to treat the disorder as a whole, not piece by piece. We understand that although behavioural and mental health disorders do need to be considered separately, they are often interrelated and need to be thoroughly assessed if the patient is to experience true progress. There is little point in prescribing medication if negative behaviours go unaddressed. It is imperative to see the whole picture in order to offer fully informed and comprehensive care.

What can you expect?

Our Advanced Health Assessment will take place in a quiet and private Central London Location, close to Mayfair. On day one you can expect to undergo a thorough physical assessment which will include an MRI brain scan, an ultrasound along with various other blood tests and essential functional and biological screenings and assessments.

Day two will take place in Mayfair in the heart of London and will be focused on your Behavioural and Mental Health. You will have a full Psychiatric and Psychological assessment and evaluation and we will draw on the expertise of a team of medical and therapeutic professionals to assess your habits and to propose a range of treatments to restore your health..

Once we have assessed your physical, mental and nutritional health we will have built up an extensive picture of you as a person and any presenting disorder. In every individual a combination of genetic predispositions, environment and lifestyle choices causes impairment of the body’s physiological functions. For dysfunctions to be reversed and for general wellbeing to be restored, it is necessary to treat the whole person and not just the symptoms of chronic disease. Our genes are not our destiny, but nonetheless they cannot be ignored. Our patterns of living can have a profound effect on the body’s ability to function correctly. We can always treat individual symptoms, but unless we treat the whole person it is likely that problems will manifest themselves again in different ways. Our intensive diagnostic approach considers your genetic make-up, your health history, lifestyle and emotional wellbeing.

Once all of these tests have been carried out, we can then design a specific programme tailored to you, which will address any negative and destructive behaviour by reinforcing the immune system, enhancing metabolic function, and regularising inflammatory response. We will reduce toxic overload of the gastro-intestinal system and liver, encourage regeneration of the tissues, and restore homeostasis (biochemical equilibrium within the cells). Encouraging proper nutrition is a vital part of the process. Gut health and hormone health are particularly important because many diseases are the result of homeostatic disruption and chronic inflammation. An unhealthy microbiome of the gut, for instance, can exacerbate eating disorders. In much the same way, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder might be behind gaming and gambling behavioural disorders.

At Behavioural Wealth, it is the patient and not the condition that should be at the centre of the approach to treatment.
